Description:
Volume 1 describes the physical, biological, and social aspects of the Ocean Special Area Management Plan (SAMP) study area, which includes approximately 3,800 square kilometers of portions of Block Island Sound, Rhode Island Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean. It identifies areas within state waters appropriate for offshore renewable energy projects as well as areas that merit special protection. It also includes an offshore development regulatory framework.
