The study concludes that modeling and analysis is critical to determine if current vessel routing measures off the Atlantic Coast are appropriate and to evaluate the change in navigational safety risk resulting from different siting and routing scenarios. The US Coast Guard (USCG) is working with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) to develop a project to perform these Phase 3 tasks, which are scheduled to begin in late summer of 2012.
