Description:
The study assessed the technical impacts of increasing wind energy penetration in New York (up to 8,000 MW). Of this amount, 1,400 MW were derived from offshore wind. The results show that the addition of up to 8,000 MW of wind generation would have no adverse reliability impact. Wind energy also results in significant savings in overall system production costs, reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as well an overall reduction in wholesale electricity prices.
