New York’s combined Atlantic coast and Great Lakes offshore wind resource is 147 GW. The 2015 State Energy Plan lays out a goal of 50% renewable energy generation by 2050. The plan outlines the state's next steps in advancing offshore wind, including the formation of a regional collaborative. The state’s Coastal Management Program has specific siting criteria and calls for the protection of critical offshore habitats.
